Letter to my Congressman and Senators

Hello there everyone. Bruce here in Erwin, TN. Just wanted to post a letter that I sent to my Congressman David Davis and Senators Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker. I would encourage everyone to do the same and let them know as voting citizens that this is what we want. Feel free to use some of the examples of my letter if anyone would like. Enjoy!!!

Hello there. My name is Bruce M. Herbertson III. I am writing to ask _________________________________, where he stands on our country?s finalizing our Metrication. As a person who was schooled in the 70's and 80's in this country, I was taught mainly Metric in school because at the time we were supposed to be converting to Metric (SI). As you may know we are for the most part Metric and we just need to finish up with the process. I ask that you support legislation to amend the Fair Packaging and Label Act (FPLA) To allow for Metric Only Labelling on products. As you may be aware The European Union is making it harder for US products that are dual measured to be imported. American companies are having to keep two inventories, one for the American market (with dual measures) and one for the rest of the Metric world. You may also be aware that we are now the only industrialized nation in the world that doesn't use Metric (SI) as a standard. Economy and Trade barriers are going up because we refuse to change. Sure it will cost at first to convert road signs and upgrade our infrastructure. But in the long run it will help boost our great nation to the world leader status that it once was. I am very proud to be an American and love this country with all my heart and soul. I would like for us to be looked upon again and looked up to as the great country that others strive to be like. Just a final note. Canada and Mexico have converted to Metric (SI) but can't finish with the conversions because of our insistence on using our old and antiquated system of measurement. So I ask of you to please support finalizing our countries conversion to Metric (SI) and support the amending of the FPLA.

Sincerely, Bruce M. Herbertson III
