It is my understanding that most medical schools are now teaching doctors to use metric when writing prescriptions. In addition, many organizations are recommending that the Latin abbreviations not be used any more when issuing prescriptions. Because the Texas State Board of Pharmacy does not license physicians, the Board would not have any way to enforce rules that required prescriptions to be written a certain way. If you have further questions, please contact me. Allison Benz, R.Ph., M.S.Now to find out who does do the licensing and talk to them....

Texas State Board of Pharmacy Response
The TSBP responded, seems that as they don't actively license pharmacists, they don't get a say in enforcing rules.
