Conversion Errors
This thread pointed out a conversion error on this article about the shuttle. 1,600oC was converted to 32oF (probably whatever they used just looked at the last two digits. The original just uses metric (with the odd exception of a mention of yards) of course.
Yes, I've mailed Yahoo asking them to stop doing conversions to US customary as errors like this disadvantage everyone.
Then, we have a student who's setup some flashcards. Unfortunately, they seem to be using the US system not the English system and there are a few errors (including equating 1 meter and 1 yard).
Conversion errors are expensive and sometimes deadly. Why do we torture ourselves with dual measurements again?
