Palo Alto Medical Foundation

Currently overseas on holiday with my family so I've been a bit lax about checking my mail and posting blog entries. On the good news side, I got a reply from PAMF to the message I posted the other week. On the bad news side, they're not currently planning on doing anything to move towards metrication (although they are going to add it to the discussion at the patient safety council so that will hopefully change).

If you've got a few minutes, please take the time to send them message encouraging metrication (it's also worth sending a copy to Sutter Health as they're the parent organization).

Hello Mr. Armstrong,

I apologize for the delay in replying. I was out of the office at the time of your email. I am the Patient Safety Officer for the Palo Alto Division of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation and have been asked to reply to your email request for information. We do not currently use metric exclusively. We have not developed any formal plans for exclusively using the metric system in our facilities. The Palo Alto Medical Foundation works collaboratively with all of the other Sutter Health Affiliates in developing standards for all of the ambulatory facilities. I will send your information to the Physician who is heading up that project, as well as bring this up for discussion with our Patient Safety Council.

We do use an electronic health record which calculates the BMI automatically.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,
Theresa Manley, RN, MBA
Patient Safety Officer
Palo Alto Medical Foundation.
