Digg on Not Adopting Metric
There's a Digg link about a recent picture of the countries not officially using metric and the corresponding long discussion about metrication here.
On the plus side, most of the popular posts are pro-metric. On the minus side, most of the anti-metric comments come down to "We're America, so there!". Now while metric is clearly a lot easier to learn and work with, it's not perfect (it doesn't actually show up that much in modern life, but 12 and 16 do have better divisors and although the costs are recovered quickly, it's expensive to change and initial sticker shock without thinking about the gains seems to get many people) but coming from a starting point that's illogical and emotionally charged (in both directions, statements like that cause both anger and patriotic feelings depending on who reads it) just leaves no room for actual discussion on the issue.
